April 2010

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

April is the month when the Plainsman begins to come back to life after the long winter. We have had a very busy “off season.” We use the winter months to work on large and messy projects so that we don’t disturb our visitors! I encourage everyone who hasn’t been to the Plainsman in a while to become a tourist in your own town and come on over to see what we have been working on.

Our volunteers took on the monumental task of moving our storage room wall! Yes, they actually moved a wall and much more. We increased our workroom space, moved exhibit cases and changed the layout of the north side of the museum.

While our volunteers were moving mountains (it seemed like it!) I have been busy working on giving a face lift to our Native American exhibits. Please stop in and see these exhibits cases.

We have wound down our big projects to get ready for school tours and the busier tourist season. As we continue to work on projects, I will keep you posted and hope you stop by to see our accomplishments. I would like to say a big that you to our volunteers and have worked so hard over these past few months:

Roger Kruse, Gary Sears, Richard Gustafson, Dale Hoegh, Ron Elge, Bob Jorgensen, Don and Joyce Kupfersmith, Rob Branting,
a nd of course a big thanks to Gary Gustafson for all that he does.

Have a great Spring!
